The Gulf County Board of County Commissioners has issued a mandatory evacuation for visitors and residents of Gulf County in the area waterside of Highway 98 between Highway 71 and the Franklin County line effective immediately.
This area includes the communities of Simmons Bayor, Jones Homestead, Indian Pass and Cape San Blas. A mandatory evacuation has also been declared for all mobile home residents county wide.
Additional evaucation is recommended for all coastal and low lying areas in the county.
A special needs shelter has been opened in Marianna for Gulf County residents requiring medical care. A permit must be acquired through the Emergency Operations Center at 850-229-9110.
Lighthouse Utilities will be disconnecting water service to the area North of Stump Hole on Cape San Blas.
Sandbags are available at the Public Works Department located on 10th Street in Port St. Joe.
The sale of alcohol, firearm and explosives have been suspended for all areas under mandatory evacuation orders until noon Monday, July 11th.
