New Budget Approved for Coffee County Schools

The Coffee County School Board has approved a new budget for the upcoming fiscal year. The $16.4 million spending plan, approved by the Alabama legislature, includes a six-percent pay raise for teachers. The budget also draws some $800,000 from an existing reserve fund.

Coffee County Schools Superintendent Linda Ingram says the money will be used to cover delays in refurbishing New Brockton High School and replacing roofs on other campuses. She says the delays were caused by Hurricane Dennis.

The coffee county school board maintains campuses in New Brockton, Kinston and Zion Chapel.
