Gov. Jeb Bush has named Circuit Judge Kenneth Bell to the Florida Supreme Court.

Bell will replace retiring Justice Leander Shaw, who will step down next month after spending 20 years on the state's highest court. Bush named Miami lawyer Raoul Cantero to the high court this summer.

Bell beat out three other finalists to fill become Bush's second solo Supreme Court choice.

Bell has been a trial judge in Pensacola since January 1991. He earned his law degree from Florida State after earning a bachelor's degree from Davidson College. He was a real estate attorney until he became a trial judge 11 years ago.
