Ways to Protect Your Family

(Dothan, AL)—Although dealing with an emergency situation may not be ideal to think about, emergency responders say it’s important to plan for the worst.

“We see a lot of dangerous situations on a daily basis where families are not prepared,” Houston County Sheriff’s Captain Antonio Gonzalez said. “The best place to start is at home, especially with younger kids because they can retain more,” he said.

Gonzalez recommends having an at-home safety check-list, which should include regular family safety drills and an emergency contact list.

“Parents should have an emergency contact list for their children, and on that list should be a trusted neighbor,” Gonzalez said.
