Dale County Sheriff Bryant Mixon was honored during a banquet hosted by the Dale County Democratic Conference.
The banquet was held at the Enterprise-Ozark Community College.
Sheriff Mixon was honored for his upcoming retirement in January of 2007.
He has worked in law enforcement for 31 years, serving as Sheriff of Dale County for nearly 24 years.
Alabama State Trooper Lieutenant Charles Ward was also honored for his contributions to law enforcement.
About 150-people attended the event and Robert Timmons, the executive director of the Alabama Sheriff's Association, was the key-note speaker.
The Dale County Democratic Conference honors outstanding people who make a difference in the community on a bi-annual basis.
