A plant in Brundidge is being forced to lay off a majority of its workers.
Piknik Products makes condiments and was considered to be one of the largest utility customers for the City of Brundidge. Vice-president of Sales and Marketing Henry Hicks has told News 4 that the lay-offs are unavoidable, since the company’s loan request was rejected by the SouthTrust Bank.
The company has laid off 45 employees, with only 16 remaining. Piknik officials hope to work out the company’s financial problems within the next two months.
