A new volunteer dive team in Holmes County is proving to provide faster recoveries.
Two bodies in Holmes County have been recovered from water in the past four days.
Within days of being certified, the Holmes County Dive Team was called on its first mission Saturday at a pond in Noma, Florida, where a 64-year-old man had drowned.
Three days later, they were called again to help deal with a man found Wednesday night face-down in Wyatt Creek.
With many personnel in the Holmes County Sheriff's Department having years of experience in law enforcement, being a part of the dive team is something many of them have felt called to do.
With a majority of the dives being recovery rather than rescue efforts, having a local team provides quicker response and a better chance at preserving any evidence.
The divers are all volunteers and pay for their own certification and other expenses.
