It took a twelve-member panel about three-hours of deliberations in a Geneva County murder trial.
Franklin Eugene Herring is charged with the 2003 Halloween party murder of his best friend, William Travis Thames.
The 41-year-old died from a single shotgun blast inside Herring's Flat Creek Community home.
Herring took the stand in his own defense Wednesday. He told the jury that the shooting was an accident.
Around 4:30 p.m., the jury returned and found Herring "guilty" of manslaughter in the death of Mr. Thames.
A sentencing date has not been set as of yet.
