Two Enterprise men have been arrested in a bizarre home-invasion case in Samson.
The incident led to the shooting of one of the occupants and the pistol-whipping of the homeowner.
Jimmy Siler says he still can hardly believe it. Over the weekend, a man knocked on the front door of his Bay Avenue home in Samson. Within an instant, two men came running inside the house.
Sixty-eight-year-old Siler was struck repeatedly over the head with a pistol while the second man ran into the bedroom and shot Curtis Fitzpatrick twice as he was lying on the bed.
Mr. Siler’s daughter came minutes after the incident and she said she couldn't believe her eyes.
A joint investigation led to the arrest of two Enterprises men. They are 44-year-old Andrew "Big-Daddy" Newsome and 21-year-old Elige Townsend. Both men were booked in the Geneva County Jail on robbery charges.
Authorities are looking into whether this incident is tied to several recent drive-by shootings in Enterprise. At this point, police have "not" speculated on a possible motive for the home-invasion shooting.
Fitzpatrick was treated and released for gunshot wounds to the leg and abdomen and both victims are expected to recover from their injuries.
Police are also looking for one, or two additional suspects.
