The Wiregrass Chapter of the American Red Cross will begin making appointments on Monday, June 27th for Project Share, the energy assistance program for low-income elderly or disabled people.
Residents of Houston County can set up an appointment by calling the Project Share office at (334) 792-9852. A Red Cross representative will interview clients seeking financial assistance for paying their utility bill. To qualify, the family income must be within certain guidelines, depending on the size of the household. In addition, the head of the household must meet one of the following criteria: the person must be 62 years old or older, must be receiving a disability check and a member of the household must have a medically verifiable condition that will be severely aggravated by energy deficiency.
Project Share is funded through the voluntary pledges made by participating energy suppliers.
