SHEFFIELD, Ala. (AP) - Police said a Sheffield teenager has been jailed on charges accusing him of driving his pickup truck over his mother's boyfriend twice during an altercation.
Sergeant Randy Butler said 19-year-old Justin Seth Venturi was charged with assault after running over 36-year-old Bradley Wade Hill, causing numerous injuries about 7 p.m. Sunday.
Hill was flown to Huntsville Hospital, where was listed in serious condition today. Family friends told the TimesDaily that Hill had several broken bones and a punctured lung.
Witnesses said the two got into an argument after Venturi refused to let Hill use his truck.
Butler said Venturi and his girlfriend then left when Hill ordered everyone out of the house. Then, according to statements, Hill tried to keep Venturi from leaving in the truck and Venturi ran over Hill and then backed over him.
Witnesses said Venturi's mother kept her son from running over Hill again.
Venturi was being held in the Colbert County Jail on $50,000 bond today. Investigators said charges could be upgraded when the case is presented to the grand jury.
