FORT WALTON BEACH, Fla. (AP) - Authorities say a south Alabama dentist shot and killed himself during a traffic stop in the Florida Panhandle.
Doctor John Warren Junior of Opp died at the scene.
The Bay County Sheriff's Office said its investigating the self-inflicted shooting on U.S. 231 North Monday afternoon.
Sheriff's Investigator Jeremy Mathis said Warren was pulled over for a traffic violation when he pulled out a handgun and shot himself in the head.
The officer was not injured.
Police don't know why Warren took his own life.
