Phenix City Teacher Arrested on Drug Related Charges

PHENIX CITY, Ala. (AP) - A Phenix City elementary school teacher is arrested and charged with drug possession.

Lee County sheriff's officials say charges against 43-year-old Elizabeth Grace Brooks came after a search of her home that found drug paraphernalia with methamphetamine residue.

Brooks was arrested Friday. It was not immediatley known if she has an attorney. Sheriff's Capt. Van Jackson says the probe has been going on for two years.

Phenix City Schools Superintendent Larry DiChiara says a decision on Brooks' job status will come later. He says he doesn't yet have all the details.
