Three employees of Georgia's tax department have been fired, for failing to pay their taxes.
Georgia Department of Revenue director Bart Graham said the three failed to file a tax return or failed to make timely tax payments.
He said tax examiners Nadeen Davis and Marilyn Ivey and account paraprofessional Henry D. Nunnery had been issued prior warnings.
Graham said yesterday that employees of the department should set an example for others.
In the past eighteen months, the department has cracked down on taxpayers believed to owe the state about $1 billsion. The department set a goal of collecting about $100 million of that in the next two years.
