Special Session No Pay

All Republicans in the state Senate are promising to give up their compensation for a special session to reconsider the General Fund budget. Senate Minority Leader Jabo Waggoner says it would be irresponsible to ask the public to pay again for work the Senate did not finish. Waggoner is challenging Democrats to give up their compensation, too.

Senate Democratic leader Zeb Little says Republicans were responsible for stalling tactics that ate up one-third of the legislative session and they are the ones who ought to do without pay.

The Republicans plan to give up $60 a day in compensation.

The leader of the House Republican Caucus, Mike Hubbard, said the House group was unaware of the Republican senators' plan. He says the House did its work and passed a General Fund budget, but it died in the Senate.
