Dothan Shooting

Police said the bondsmen tried to apprehend Donald Pearce around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday for failing to appear in court on drug charges.

But the suspect allegedly stabbed one of the bondsmen in the arm, jumped in their car and tried to run over them.

Police said one of the bondsmen fired two shots from a handgun as Pearce sped away, but no one was injured.

The stolen car was found on North Herring Street a short time later.

Bondsmen found Pearce a few hours later and took him to the Houston County Jail.

He now faces theft and assault charges as well as the original drug charges.
