Abbeville School Meeting

Abbeville residents are overwhelmingly in favor of consolidating Abbeville and Headland high schools.

Many argued funding two separate schools is draining the county's education fund.

Abbeville High School parents said by joining forces, students in Henry County will have better programs, a state-of-the-art facility and possibly a 6A athletic program.

Superintendent of Henry County schools Billy Davis said the idea of consolidating is still in the preliminary stages.

One of the other options being discussed by the Henry County Board of Education is building Abbeville a new high school at a new location.
