A search for a missing Northwest Florida teenager has ended tragically.
Around 1:30 p.m. Thursday, divers found John Rawlings' body in a pond located at the Hinson’s Crossroads Community in Washington County Florida.
The 18-year-old was last seen alive around noon Wednesday when he and several friends went swimming in the alligator infested, 30-foot deep clay pit.
Authorities’ say Rawlings cried for help, but within an instant went below water and never came back up.
Last year, Rawlings moved to the Vernon area with his family from Georgia.
His body has been sent to Panama City for an autopsy.
