Geneva’s city school superintendent says he hopes to replace the 43-year-old roof at Mulkey Elementary School.
Bixby says during heavy rainfalls there are leaks in classrooms.
Much of the roof dates back to the early 1960's.
The superintendent would like to replace it with a new metal roof, similar to what was constructed over Geneva High School several years ago.
Initial price estimates place the work at around 800-thousand dollars.
Depending on final costs, the work may have to be done in segments.
Bixby hopes to open the project for bids later this summer.
The cost would be paid through local school district monies.
