Illegal Aliens

In the next few weeks, the Coffee County Jail will begin receiving a fee for the number of illegal aliens held in the jail.

An agreement has been signed with a South Florida company called Justice Benefits Corporation. That company has agreed to pay between $25 and $50 per person.

Justice Benefits is paid by the federal government and then it pays local jails to house inmates.

Coffee County joins a growing list of local governments in Florida and Alabama who have started using this procedure.

Last year, Justice Benefits paid Montgomery County Alabama nearly $50,000 to hold illegal aliens.
