Houston County Commission

Superintendents from both Houston County and Dothan City schools said their systems simply can't continue to function adequately without additional funding.

The two options expected to appear before voters include a countywide five-mil property tax increase or a half-cent countywide sales tax increase.

The revenue generated from either tax would be divided between the city and county school systems based on the number of students enrolled.

Houston County Commission Chairman Mark Culver said they're hoping for a vote on Feb. 4.
