State funding for a training program may help one local manufacturing company increase productivity and avoid layoffs.
Alabama Gov. Don Siegelman has awarded nearly $147,000 for the program at Reliable Products in Geneva. The money will be used to retrain 552 employees.
Reliable Products is one of eight plants owned by Ruskin Air Systems. Ruskin has considered closing or consolidating several of its plants.
Reliable is one of the largest private employers in Geneva County.
