A Florida police officer says it didn't look good when the search for a missing girl ended in a trash bin.
Then, her finger moved.
Sergeant Mike Hall described the moment in an interview with ABC's "Good Morning America."
He was scouring a landfill yesterday, looking for an eight-year-old girl who disappeared earlier in the day.
He says he looked inside the trash bin and spotted a yellow recycling container. When he opened the lid, he saw a foot and hand. Fearing the worst, he called over another officer -- who suddenly shouted: "Her finger is moving!"
At that point, he says, "the expression on everybody's face just changed."
He says the girl survived seven hours in the recycling bin, buried under a pile of rocks. She's in good condition at a hospital.
A 17-year-old boy has been charged with attempted murder, false imprisonment and sexual battery. Authorities say he has confessed.
