Controversy stirs in a small Alabama town where a fired assistant police chief gets a special hearing to air his grievances.
He says he lost his job because of his race.
Richard Peterson, a 19-year veteran of law enforcement, was terminated earlier this month by the town's mayor Shug Rowland.
Peterson thinks Rowland is a racist and so does town councilman Charles Beasley who says the mayor made his decision outside of a town council meeting with other members of the council, a violation of the Alabama Sunshine Law.
Peterson’s termination hearing was held last night in Clayton.
