New crystal halogen or compact fluorescent light bulbs can give your home a holiday feeling -- as well as leave more money in your pockets for gift giving. This season, new Christmas lights called little lights are available that are more energy efficient and give a sparkling effect.
You can also try up-lighting that tree in the front yard for a new look. And as always, check to see that your extension cords and lights carry a UL seal and that your decorations are rated for indoor or outdoor use.
Along with lighting, holiday decorators on a budget can also check out little knick-knacks at local dollar stores, as well as ribbon, straw and jewels at craft shops to decorate their tree and homes.
