If you want to make your home look like a winter wonderland this holiday season, you don't have to break the bank or hire an interior designer. You and your family can give your home that magical feel with little more than a few lights - and some imagination.
Lighting is key to giving your home a festive feel. New crystal halogen or compact fluorescent light bulbs can give your home a holiday feeling -- as well as leave more money in your pockets for gift giving. This season, new Christmas lights called little lights are available that are more energy efficient and give a sparkling effect.
You can also try up-lighting that tree in the front yard for a new look. And as always, check to see that your extension cords and lights carry a UL seal and that your decorations are rated for indoor or outdoor use.
Along with lighting, holiday decorators on a budget can also check out little knick-knacks at local dollar stores, as well as ribbon, straw and jewels at craft shops to decorate their tree and homes.
