Holmes County Sheriff

Incumbent Sheriff Dennis Lee "defeated" former Sheriff John Braxton by just five votes, but Braxton claimed election irregularities.

On Friday, a judge in Bonifay determined the election was conducted fairly and there was no evidence of illegal actions by the Canvassing Board.

Judge Michael Miller recounted the questionable ballots from the 2000 election, those that were not counted by optical scan voting machines because they were unreadable.

After the counting, the outcome was not changed. Lee remains the winner.
