Coffee County EMA

Coffee County Emergency Operations Director John Tallas had good news for county commissioners.

Tallas' office has received grant approval from the nation's capitol.

The Emergency Operations Center will be getting nearly $20,000. The money will be used to buy emergency radios, hazardous material gear and chemical detection equipment.

The goal is to increase response time in the event of a homeland security emergency.

Tallas is also looking at other areas where Coffee County may be eligible for grant money and low interest loans.
