A suspect in the shooting that left one man dead and another injured over the weekend is behind bars.
Police say 19-year-old Steven Antonio Kyles already confessed to slaying 30-year-old Alonzo Anthony Nickson aka “Ashley” a transvestite.
“Ashley” was involved in a fight with Kyles Sunday night. Kyles left and came back with a gun shooting “Ashley” three times while he sat on his porch. Another man sitting next to “Ashley” was shot in the leg.
Police confirmed that the two men did have a sexual encounter earlier that night, and the fight happened after that leading some to believe that Kyles retaliated after finding out “Ashley” was really a man.
Neighbors say “Ashley” was no trouble maker and was very open about himself and his lifestyle.
What led to the fight is anyone's guess, but most of “Ashley’s” friends say the two men did not meet for the first time that night.
Chief Powell says the investigation will wrap up in the next few days.
