Heating Assistance Program

It's time to crank up your heaters as temperatures dip below freezing. But not everyone can afford to properly heat their homes.

So, the Human Resource Development Corporation of the Wiregrass is offering a program to assist local families and the elderly with their heating bills.

The low-income Home Energy Assistance Program helps those with a household income of less than $8,000 per year.

When you go to apply, you must have proof of your household income for the month of November, a recent heating bill and social security numbers for everyone living in the home.

Heating assistance programs are in Coffee, Geneva, Houston, Barbour and Henry counties. You must apply in person unless you are elderly and authorize someone else to apply for you in writing.
