For the fifth consecutive year, the Wiregrass United Way has reached their annual fundraising goal, and this year, it’s the most they have ever raised.
Last summer, the creative goal of $2, 555,555.55 was set by the volunteer leaders of the United Way.
The current total is over $3 million dollars.
A few more companies are expected to turn in their national final reports this month.
Walter Hill, the executive officer of the Wiregrass United Way says, "This week we exceeded our challenge goal. The Wiregrass Foundation challenged us to try and raise $26 million dollars and if we did that, they'd give us $400,000 on top to distribute to our 37 agencies."
The Wiregrass United Way has served the Wiregrass area since 1938 currently funding 37 community impact partners in Coffee, Dale, Geneva, Henry, and Houston counties.
