Graceville Positioning for More Prison Jobs

Florida Governor Charlie Crist will ask state lawmakers for 400-million dollars to build additional prisons.

A 1,500 bed private prison opened in September at the Graceville Industrial Park.

Work is already underway to expand it by nearly 400-beds.

South Florida based GEO Group has bought 50 additional acres for a second prison.

The state Department of Corrections is Florida’s largest employer.

Florida Department of Corrections predicts a need for an additional 8,000 prison beds in the next year.
