Vice President Dick Cheney is slated to speak at Auburn University's spring commencement on May 13th. That's according to several Republicans familiar with advance planning for the trip.
The White House has not yet officially announced the trip. But some Alabama Republicans say Cheney is scheduled to speak at the 10a.m. ceremony at Beard-Eaves Memorial Coliseum.
Cheney has been a regular visitor to Alabama. He spoke in Montgomery twice in 2002 and in Birmingham and Huntsville in 2003. Cheney's boss, President Bush, has been to Auburn's main campus as president. He spoke at Auburn's baseball stadium in 2002.
Cheney is not the first vice president to speak at the university. State Republican Party Chairwoman Twinkle Andress Cavanaugh says Vice President Dan Quayle made an outdoor speech at the campus when she was a senior in 1988.
