A Brinks Armored Car Service employee has been charged with stealing $70,000 from the company.
Santa Rosa County, Florida, sheriff's deputies say 26-year-old Tony Simmons is free on bond.
A sheriff's report states that he turned himself in and returned the money last week.
Employees at the Okaloosa County Teachers Credit Union branch in Crestview discovered the money missing from a plastic delivery bag that was supposed to have about $127,000.
The bag had been opened and resealed with clear tape before it was delivered.
The report also says that Simmons told deputies he took the money from the bag because his mother and cousin have cancer.
He is charged with second-degree felony theft.
