Thirty-seven-year-old Kendall Ward was charged with two counts of sexual abuse involving an eight-year-old girl.

The incidents allegedly happened during the spring of 2000 at a home in Ashford.

Jurors deliberated more than six hours over two days before convicting Ward on one count, but finding him not guilty on the other.

He faces up to 10 years in prison. Sentencing has been set for Aug. 6.

Ward had been free on a $20,000 bond, but was ordered back to jail to await sentencing. A new bond was set at $75,000.
