A lot of the nation's peanut farmers have expected the new federal peanut commodity program to help their farms out with extra cash.

Instead, they stand to lose thousands of dollars because of new regulations not in place when they planted their crops.

The new payment limits are especially hard on growers who incorporated family farms or formed partnerships, which are considered one entity.

Since growers began the season under the old regulations, their farms were organized to comply with them. They could not adjust for payment limitations.
