In Southwest Coffee County, Kinston is still without a police chief.
Last month, Chief Craig Haynes was terminated after his arrest on domestic battery charges. The reported victim was his wife.
Although the town has no chief, an official says Kinston is being covered by two part-time officers.
The Coffee County Sheriff's Department has also increased patrols of the area.
Kinston officials say the town of 700 has adequate protection and the people there can feel safe.
For those interested in applying for a full time police position, applications can be mailed to Kinston City Hall at P.O. Box 26, Kinston, Alabama 36453.
