Hammond Trial

Jerry Hammond faces capital murder charges for the 1988 stabbing death and robbery of his 78-year-old uncle.

Prosecutors claim Hammond stole James McNeal's wallet to get money to buy drugs.

Hammond's first conviction was overturned after a court reporter lost part of his original trial transcript.

His second conviction was reversed after an appeals court ruled the jury was not properly instructed and that prosecutors should not have told jurors about Hammond's original death sentence.

Defense attorneys filed a last minute motion to move the trial because of pre-trial publicity.

A hearing is set for Monday morning.
