Several million dollars in bond revenues are set to pay for a couple of major infrastructure projects in Houston County.
A total of $9-million dollars is slated for the projects.
The money, expected to be issued by February 15th, will be used to resurface more than 40 miles of county roads.
County Commission Chairman Mark Culver says commissioners wanted to approve projects that would benefit the greatest number of people. “Half of the bond issue will be used to continue the road program; Leep, Houston County with the best roads in Alabama, the other half will go toward the water project. County water will be issued to all the residents in the county; commissioners feel that it is the best thing for all citizens in our county."
Commissioners are expected to approve selling the bonds for the water and roads projects at their first meeting in February.
