James Bonds was found guilty last month for the shooting death and robbery of 57-year-old Norman Manning.
Bonds was just 16-years-old when the crime was committed in September of 1999.
Defense attorneys asked for mercy because of their client's age at the time of the murder. But Ed Jackson followed a jury's recommendation and sentenced Bonds to die. Manning's widow said the condemned killer's age was no excuse.
Bonds' co-defendant, Antoine Washington, could stand trial next spring.
District Attorney Doug Valeska said he'll also seek the death penalty in that case.
