A federal appeals court raised a flicker of hope for the parents of Terri Schiavo, but snuffed it out several hours later today by firmly and resoundingly declining to intervene in the grueling legal battle.
The Atlanta-Based 11th U-S Circuit Court of Appeals wrote that any further action by the court or the district court would be improper.
The court also wrote that the time has come for what it called
"dispassionate discharge of duty."
And there was a scathing attack on politicians who got involved in the case. The court added that the White House and lawmakers "have acted in a manner demonstrably at odds with our Founding Fathers' blueprint for the governance of a free people - our Constitution."
