Schiavo Case

By: Associated Press

The Supreme Court has rejected an appeal from Terri Schiavo's (SHY'-vohz) parents. They wanted the court to order the severely brain-damaged woman's feeding tube reinserted.

This is at least the fifth time the court has refused to get involved in the case.

The one-page order caps Bob and Mary Schindler's four-day race through the federal court system. Congress and President Bush this
week gave the family the right to pursue the case in federal court.

Outside the hospice where Schiavo has been treated, an activist told protesters about the Supreme Court rejection. He said all legal options "have closed" and Florida's Governor Jeb Bush "is now the only practical hope."

The governor is hoping a court will allow him to take custody of the woman.
