Authorities have extended an Amber Alert for two children believed kidnapped in Georgia to the Carolinas.
Police say 27-year-old Terrance McDowell sexually assaulted his former girlfriend after forcing his way at gunpoint at 3 a-m today into her home in Conley -- about ten miles southeast of Atlanta.
They say he shot the woman's 64-year-old father in the head and chest before leaving with the children in the woman's car.
Police issued an Amber Alert, saying that McDowell is believed to have taken his ex-girlfriend's four-year-old daughter, Faith McDowell, and five-year-old son, Jaquan Wright. Authorities say the children are in extreme danger. McDowell is the girl's father, but NOT the boy's.
Authorities later extended the alert to South Carolina and North Carolina. Police say McDowell has relatives in North Carolina.
McDowell is described as being six feet tall and weighing 185 pounds. He was last seen wearing a red shirt and blue jeans. Police are searching for a green 1998 Kia Sephia with Georgia license plate A-R-L 5-7-8-3.
Faith was last seen wearing a pink shirt and had white beads in her braided hair. Jaquan was wearing a red shirt. The children both are described as about four feet tall and about 45 pounds.
Clayton County Police Captain Jeff Turner says the woman's father is at Grady Memorial Hospital.
