Geneva County High Speed Chase

Geneva County Sheriff Greg Ward wrecked his police cruiser during a "high speed" chase.

Sheriff Ward managed to knock the Dodge neon off County Road 4 just outside the Black Community.

At times, Sheriff Ward says speeds exceeded 100 miles-per-hour.

Initially, investigators attempted to stop the car for an outstanding warrant on its owner.

The passenger, 24-year-old Wendie Warren faces possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia charges.

The driver, 37-year-old Kevin Hardy of Samson, faces charges of eluding police, reckless endangerment and assault on a law enforcement officer.

Sheriff Ward says “On this rural road, not much traffic. Plenty of help in stopping him. Everybody got in the right position, when I saw him, I was able to knock him off the road before he went into the other guys.”

Authorities say it's fortunate that Hardy didn't hurt anyone in his attempt to elude authorities during the chase.
