Beckworth Sentencing

gavel

Rex Allen Beckworth was charged with capital murder, along with his stepbrother, James Earl Walker, for killing 87-year-old Bessie Lee Thweet in her Wicksburg home in January 2000.

A jury has already convicted Beckworth and recommended the death penalty in September. The final decision is up to Judge Ed Jackson.

Jackson can agree with the jury's recommendation or hand down a sentence of life without parole. His decision is expected at the sentencing hearing Monday.
