If you bank at Southtrust Bank beware of Internet fraud.
Dothan officials have received dozens of calls about bogus e-mails from Southtrust Bank.
People are getting e-mails that appear authentic saying recipients must update their account information because of possible access by an “unauthorized third party”.
But, bank officials warn they never contact customers via e-mail to verify or request security information.
Anyone who has received a phony Southtrust e-mail should forward the message to the bank as soon as possible.
And customers who have responded to the scam should call Southtrust immediately.
