A convicted child molester from Florida, arrested in Georgia for allegedly abducting a child has agreed to return to Florida to face charges.
42-year-old Frederick Fretz went before a federal magistrate in Rome, Georgia yesterday.
Police say Fretz picked up 11-year-old Adam Kirkit from school in Dunnellon last Tuesday and rather than take him home he drove to Georgia with the child.
An Amber Alert was issued Tuesday night, but there wasn't a break in the case until Friday.
That’s when Fretz's car was found along Interstate-75 in Bartow County Georgia.
The boy was found along the same highway Friday night.
Fretz was captured Sunday as he hitch-hiked along the interstate.
In addition to kidnapping, Fretz also faces two Florida warrants of probation violation and failure to register as a sex offender.
