After nearly a decade of searching, the remains of an elderly Eufaula man have been found. But, the search for his killer continues.
74-year-old Amos Russell disappeared on Sept. 27, 1997.
Recently, a local timber crew found his remains in a wooded area only a mile from where he lived on Russell Williams Road in Eufaula.
Anthropologists discovered two holes in his skull and declared the case a homicide.
Russell lived alone and had Alzheimer’s disease.
The governor's office is offering a $5,000 reward to anymore with information about his death.
At this time, investigators have no major leads in the case. They’re urging anyone with information to call them at 687-1200 or contact the D.A.'s office at 678-7638.
