Residents in one Northwest Florida city want the city manager gone.
An apparent recall petition is circulating in Cottondale, but those behind the effort are shying away from the media.
Cottondale City Manager Willie Cook is the subject of the recall.
Cook "resigned" his post as mayor last December to become that town's first city manager, a position which pays $400 a month.
Several unidentified callers tell News 4 that “Cook vacated the mayor's post because it didn't pay him a salary.” But, Cook says he became city manager in order to bring grants and jobs too economically-depressed central Jackson County.
Those behind the petition to remove Cook are expected to be at Monday night's Cottondale City Council meeting.
