Ground work is underway on the long anticipated multipurpose building in Enterprise.
The site adjacent to the Enterprise Recreation Complex on Highway 167 North is being cleared.
The 25,000 square foot building will contain a conference center, along with a new city senior center.
Mayor Kenneth Boswell says the facility has been in the planning stages since 2004.
The Coffee County Commission is contributing to its completion.
Mayor Boswell said, "Not only see it built, but see it through completion that we have it for the city for conferences and mini-sessions. We definitely need the space to accommodate up to 1500 people."
The city is in the process of accepting various bids on its construction.
Mayor Boswell says a multipurpose building will attract folks to the City of Progress.
