Police Probe Shooting Death of Dothan Teen

DOTHAN, Ala. (AP) - For the second time in a week - a Wiregrass
teenager has died after an accidental shooting.

Tuesday morning just before 9 o'clock, 15-year-old Daniel Wayne McKinnon of Dothan was shot in the chest outside a house at the corner of Ambrose Court and Eastwood Drive in Dothan.

The youngster died a short time later at a Dothan hospital.

Police Chief John Powell says 22-year-old Joshua Jones of Dothan was charged with manslaughter. The police chief says Jones pointed a .40-caliber pistol at the teenager and pulled the trigger without knowing there were bullets in the gun.

The shooting occurred one day before school resumes in Dothan.

Last week, another 15-year-old male was accidentally shot to death in Henry County by an 18-year-old hunting companion.
